Thule was a semi-arid planet known for its rich savannas, continually bombarded by lightning storms, but Thule was also a hidden Sith stronghold. The rocky outcroppings which broke the plains were charred black from being hit by lightning. This charred rock later served as a form of sustenance for unusual, bioluminescent moss that made the rocks glow with an eerie light.

After the Great Hyperspace War, several Sith survivors fled to the world, where they would remain for generations, waiting for their revenge on the Jedi and the Republic. They established a military dictatorship, ruled by an oligarchy of eight generals.
Ulic Qel-Droma fought on Thule during the Great Sith War, during which time the Dark Reaper was buried on the world. At some point after, but before the Seventh Battle of Ruusan, a group of Sith (presumably the New Sith Empire) established a colony of Chiss on Thule, for reasons undetermined.
In 22 BBY, Count Dooku went to Thule to revive the Dark Reaper in an attempt to destroy the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. A planetary shield enveloped the planet Thule, projected by the small moon Sivvi orbiting it. An attack led by the Republic resulted in the Battle of Thule and the destruction of the Dark Reaper.

In Greek mythology, Thule was a land far to the north of Britain.
Also an Airbase and BMEWS (Ballistic Missile Early Warning System) base in Greenland.
Thule could be named for the occultist Thule Society of the Nazi regime.
Star Wars: Complete Locations places Thule in the Expansion Region, in relative proximity to Shili, whereas other sources confirm its location in the Outer Rim Territories. Due to a last minute change at Lucas Licensing, Thule was also incorrectly placed in the Inner Rim Territories in Inside the Worlds of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.[2]
In some cases, it's name has been prounounced in a similar way to fool, and in others to fuel.
